Sean’s Fantasy Football Frenzy

Sean’s Fantasy Football Frenzy

After everyone got over the initial state of “awe” that came with the opening weekend of football, we were left with somewhat of a feeling of disgust with the fantasy teams that we had drafted.  Here are suggestions after week one that may help you win your fantasy league.

  1. Do not get discouraged with known fantasy “studs” that had a disappointing week one.  With training camp being cut short it may take a week or two for them to get their step back and should be back to top form in no time.
  2. Do not over value players that had a decent week one but have not proven themselves in any other time of their career.  We are all looking for this year’s Arian Foster and it is ok to gamble on one of these players if you have the roster space but do not drop someone on the sole basis that they had a good week one because they may tank the rest of the year.
  3. As with the overvaluing I have just mentioned, do not trade players on the basis of simply liking them because they are on your favorite team or because they had a great start, i.e. Cam Newton for Reggie Wayne, ( yes I have seen this in my own fantasy league and I could only shake my head in disgust).
  4. Players that often put up huge numbers in the first couple weeks will eventually “come back down to Earth” and their numbers will even out, while the known players that are on everyone’s roster year to year will still continue to put up the decent numbers they have come to be relied upon for.
  5. With injuries now starting to show their ugly face around the league it may be important to go out and start picking up backups for these players so that you have them if need be.  If you have a high waiver pick do not be afraid to pick up and stash away a backup of the team that you are playing that week if you know they have a player that is hurt.   This ultimately may result in a win for your team that week.
